Hullo there and happy Spring, Substitutes!

I come to you now with a pretty minor update to Substitution, but it's still one I'm pleased with. I always enjoy coming back to this project. Don't tell my other games, but this one might be my favorite..

Like I said, there aren't many changes, so let's get into 'em!

Substitution v2.2 Changelog

• File size is now 5mb for Spreads and 6mb for Pages
  • Previously, the file size was nearly 26mb - I was new to Affinity and unsure how to export a smaller PDF, but hey, I figured it out!
• Some coarse language was changed/removed
  • I myself am not opposed to or offended by coarse language, but the reason for this is two-fold.
    • First, a friend recently reached out for some classroom-appropriate games that she could use in her creative writing class. As this is a class for middle schoolers, I wanted to pick my games that were relatively family friendly. Substitution only had a couple of swear words, and it was easy to remove them to make the game more appropriate for a wider age range.
    • Second, the swearing didn't add anything to the document, so it was easy to remove. The swear words only appeared in the story sections between chapters, and have been edited.
• Speaking of story sections between chapters, the third exchange between the Monitor and Superintendent one has been changed.
  • The first two exchanges between the Monitor and Superintendent remain the same, but previously, the third exchange was about a group of Substitutes from a different mission. I wrote an exchange that continued the story of the first two, rather than start a new one. I think this gives a bit of flavor and cohesiveness to the Substitution narrative.
• The link to the TTRPG Safety Toolkit has been updated.
  • Previously, the link led to an uploaded PDF that was hosted on a 4chan-related server. This was an unintentional oversight on my part, and I have linked to the correct website. This change will be made in other projects as well, when I am able.
• The text-only document has been updated and cleaned up.
